Taller Books comes to Hay-On-Wye!

Amazing news! Our books are now stocked in some fantastic bookshops in the world’s first Book Town, Hay-on-Wye!

For LGBTQ+ YA novel Angels, head to Gay-On-Wye at 3 Lion Street. This gorgeous shop is a a sanctuary where the LGBTQ+ community and its allies can find literature that resonates with their experiences, challenges and triumphs. We’re thrilled that they have added Angels to their shelves!

For copies of Battle Ground, you’re spoiled for choice!

First on the bookshop trail, next to the Oxford Road Car Park, is the Hay Cinema Bookshop. You’ll find children’s and YA books in the entrance hall, and in the first section, just behind the front desk.

Next on the Battle Ground trail is Richard Booth’s Bookshop. This absolutely stunning shop sells new and second-hand books, and might be my new favourite place to be unsupervised in a bookstore. Check out the huge YA section on the ground floor, and the sci-fi and graphic novel section in the basement. As if that’s not enough – if you’re feeling creative, you’ll also find art supplies and fabric at the back of the shop. I’m not sure how I made it out of there without emptying my bank account!

Just up the street is Addyman Books, a warren of small rooms packed with new and second-hand books at seriously great prices. I may have spent more than I planned to in here …

Last but not least, right in the centre of town, you’ll find the friendly folks at Green Ink Booksellers. Their children’s and YA section is downstairs, and there are sci-fi and graphic novels next to the stairs on the ground floor.

There are so many wonderful bookshops in Hay-on-Wye, but these are the shops where you’ll find our books. If you’re visiting, plan to stay in town for a full day – and save up before you go! It is all far too tempting …

A is for Astronaut is online!

We’re excited to announce that A is for Astronaut, our geeky alphabet picture book for young children, is now available to buy online! Head to The Great British Bookshop to order your copy. Excellent for baby shower and christening gifts – and of course, Christmas is coming … πŸ˜‰

Angels, our LGBTQ+ YA novel, is also available now from The Great British Bookshop. If you enjoy floppy paperbacks with silky covers, this edition will make you very happy.

A is for Astronaut online at the Great British Bookshop

The Great British Bookshop offers worldwide shipping. Both books are price-matched to our in-person event prices. And best of all – if you buy from The Great British Bookshop, more of the cover price comes directly to the author, and absolutely none of it goes to Amazon!

Happy Birthday, Battle Ground!

We really can’t believe this. We launched our first novel, Battle Ground, at London Olympia FIVE WHOLE YEARS AGO on a frighteningly hot and humid day at YALC.

😲 FIVE YEARS!! 😲

A huge THANK YOU to everyone who has bought, read, reviewed and told other people about the book and the series. It has been an amazing five years of writing, promoting, meeting new readers – and winning two international awards. Thank you all for your support and encouragement. 🧑

Taller Books has come a long way in five years. Seven books in the Battle Ground Series (plus a free novella), a standalone LGBTQ+ novel, Angels, a children’s picture book, an indie author editing service, and sponsorship of the Foreword Festival UK.

Here’s to the next five!

PTSD Awareness Day

Today is PTSD Awareness Day, and with author Rachel Churcher we’re launching our official fundraising page for PTSD UK.

All Rachel’s novels feature main characters who experience PTSD, and we want their stories to help support PTSD awareness and treatment.

As part of the Foreword Festival UK Pay It Foreword Book Fair in Bury St Edmunds on August 31st, we’ll be raising money for PTSD UK via JustGiving – and we’re starting today! Any donations massively appreciated, and all donations on the official page go directly to the charity.

PTSD UK is the only UK charity dedicated to raising awareness of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder – no matter the trauma that caused it.

Thank you so much for your support!

‘Angels’ is a finalist!

We are delighted to announce that Angels, Rachel Churcher’s new YA novel, has been chosen as a finalist for the 2023 Wishing Shelf Book Awards! It’s in the ‘Books for Teenagers’ category, and we’re absolutely thrilled that the judges found it worthy of a finalist’s place.

Why does this nomination mean so much? Most book awards are judged by adults. The Wishing Shelf Book Awards are judged by readers in the age group the book is aimed at. In the case of the teenage section, the books were read and judged by reading groups in UK secondary schools. In order to win a place in the finals, the books were marked according to editing, theme, style and cover. Angels made the finalist cut!

Pick up your copy of Angels today!

The final winners will be announced on April 1st. Watch this space for further announcements …
